New Trek Checkpoint+ SL 2026: The Do-It-All E-Gravel Bike with the TQ-HPR60 Motor
Trek is launching its first electric gravel bike, the new Checkpoint+ SL. It combines the modern features and performance riders love about the versatile non-electric Checkpoint, adding a pedal-assisted boost. With the lightweight TQ-HPR60 motor and a 360 Wh battery, it provides a natural and quiet pedal-assist up to 45 km/h, with a claimed range of up to 80 km.
The Checkpoint+ SL expands Trek’s lineup of performance e-bikes, which already includes road models like the Domane+ Carbon and Domane+ Aluminum, as well as the Fuel+ e-MTBs. With this new bike, Trek now offers electric options for every type of rider.
Trek Checkpoint+ SL Details
The Checkpoint+ SL is essentially an electric version of the regular Checkpoint SL. It mirrors the design, geometry, and features, with the TQ-HPR60 motor and 360 Wh battery integrated into the frame. It's currently only available with Trek’s OCLV carbon frame, in three complete build options.
The frame has clearance for tires up to 50 mm, is compatible with gravel suspension forks, and has routing for dropper posts. It also features the IsoSpeed system, which damps vibrations at the rear of the bike to enhance rider comfort by allowing the seat tube to flex slightly over rough surfaces.
Like the non-electric version, the Checkpoint+ SL is designed for adventure and includes numerous frame mounts for carrying gear. These mounts are designed to work with Trek’s own line of bags, plus mounts on the frame and fork for water bottles, accessories, and a rear rack.
Geometry and Technical Specifications
The Checkpoint+ SL uses Trek’s “gravel endurance geometry,” providing a more relaxed, upright position for all-day comfort. The geometry is an exact copy of the regular Checkpoint, with one difference: the chainstays are 10 mm longer—likely due to the motor—resulting in a 10 mm longer wheelbase. It comes in six frame sizes, from XS to XL, fitting riders between 142 cm and 203 cm.
Motor and Battery
The new Checkpoint+ SL, like other Trek e-bikes, uses the TQ-HPR60 motor. This system is known for its small, lightweight, and quiet operation. Despite its discreet size, the motor puts out up to 60 Nm of torque and a peak power of 350 W. According to Trek, pedal-assist can reach 45 km/h.
The motor is powered by a frame-integrated 360 Wh battery. Slim and lightweight, it provides a claimed range of “up to 80 km.” The actual range will vary based on assist mode, pedaling effort, and terrain. For longer rides, the bike is compatible with an optional 160 Wh range extender. The system is managed by a top-tube-integrated color LED display and discreet handlebar controls.
