3. Battery System Integration (Modular Battery System)
The housing system for the Bosch PowerTube battery inside the down tube is structurally solid, but the closure and protection mechanism presents practical shortfalls.
- Plastic Cover Rattle: The removable cover shielding the battery is made of a flexible plastic material. Under summer heat or frame twisting, the plastic clips tend to develop play, causing an annoying and continuous creaking or vibration when riding over rough terrain.
- Lock and Battery Latch: The key release mechanism (or button-operated mechanism depending on the version) is highly susceptible to dirt thrown up by the front wheel. If mud penetrates the lock cylinder or the retention pin, battery extraction becomes difficult, and you risk a failure of the safety latch upon re-insertion.
