4. Internal Cable Routing and Secondary Componentry
In order to offer premium Shimano XT or SRAM GX drivetrains at competitive prices, Cube economizes on less visible components that are vital for long-term reliability.
- Derailleur Hanger Failure (SRAM UDH and Proprietary): The derailleur hangers used by Cube on certain manufacturing batches are structurally very soft. While they are designed to break to save the rear derailleur during an impact, they tend to bend even just under the high load imposed on the chain by the Bosch motor accelerating in Turbo mode.
- Cable Routing Through the Headset: The integrated cable routing system that enters directly through the headset (an aesthetically clean solution) creates an extremely tight bend radius for the housings. This generates premature wear on mechanical derailleur cables (making shifting stiff) and risks kinking the rear hydraulic brake hose if the handlebar is abruptly twisted past 90° during a crash.
