The electric mountain bike (eMTB) landscape sees the entry of a significant new player in the high-performance mid-drive motor segment. MAHLE, a German company with over a century of experience in mobility innovation and already a leader in hub motors for e-road bikes, has officially unveiled the M40 system.
The MAHLE M40 is presented as a lightweight, complete system capable of competing with industry standards that feature down-tube integrated mid-drive motors and batteries delivering over 85Nm of torque. With a total weight of just 5 kg (including the 534Wh iM5 battery), the M40 system delivers 105Nm of torque and a peak power of 850W, redefining the power-to-weight ratio in the industry.
