We respond to one of our readers who asks us for advice on the TREK MADONE 2023 bike compared to the PINARELLO DOGMA F, which one to choose?

This is the email:

Good morning Luca,
I have just finished reading the Trek Modan test on ciclonline and I ask you: I would like to change my bike and upgrade (I currently own a Pinarello Dogma think:2)
I was just yesterday by a Trek dealer and the bike in question was aesthetically and very appealing, but after reading the article I don't know if it's really for me.
I live and therefore I train in an area where you go uphill with just a few km, yes there is also a flat area but...
Do you recommend staying with the Pinarello family? What do you think of the F series?

If you have a Pinarello Dogma Think2, the only upgrade that makes logical sense is to switch to the Pinarello Dogma F 2023, alternatively, but little will change, switch to the Pinarello F9 2023.

As for Trek, the only viable alternative to its current Pinarello road bike is the 2023 Trek Emonda SLR.

About the 2023 Trek Madone it's a great flatland race bike wholly out of place on the climbs.

Now why do many take it into consideration also for the climb?

Simple: give the bike to the reference Pro Team that does all the climbs of the pro tour races, two good tests that say it's comfortable and goes fast even uphill and that it also costs the right ... the game is done .. .

Marketing is this and I can tell that some companies are way ahead…

If it develops 1000 watts of power it's an excellent bike otherwise I don't know what it can do about it, least of all uphill.

Then the money is his ...

If you want to make an upgrade, starting from a current base that is high, you have to "resign" to a Pinarello F9 or better Dogma F, if you want to change brands and switch to Trek, then the Trek Emonda SLR.

Between his current bike and the Pinarello F9 there is a slight difference to the advantage of the last born, but in the final analysis it is not much compared to the economic expense.

If you want to stay with Pinarello, I would definitely switch to the Dogma F, which is the natural evolution of your current racing bike.

Money aside, three excellent racing bikes.
