Typical gravel characteristics and urban bike elements

The gravel market is still booming. With an upcoming World Championship in their own backyard, Ridley can’t ignore it: everyone wants to gravel ride. Therefore, the bike manufacturer further expands its gravel range with the Kalazy. Analogous to the Blast in the mountain bike segment, the Kalazy is an entry-level model that allows you to explore the gravel scene in an affordable and relaxed manner.

The Kalazy is primarily a gravel bike. You’ll find typical gravel characteristics in the geo#metry, tire width, and attachment points. The geometry of the Kalazy is based on that of the Kanzo Adventure, with a steering angle of 71 degrees and a seat angle of 74 degrees.

This translates to a pure gravel geometry aimed at stable and comfortable riding, even on the most challenging terrain. The Kalazy is designed for maximum tire width up to 47mm, providing enough clearance to tackle the toughest trails.

Sporty features are combined with some characteristics of adventurous city bikes, such as the option to install a stand, lock, luggage rack, and mudguards. This demonstrates that the Kalazy is much more than just a gravel bike. It’s also an opportunity to pedal through the city in a sporty way.

For gravel setups, with a 2x8 drivetrain, we choose Shimano Claris with mechanical disc brakes. For a 2x9 drivetrain, we fit mechanical disc brakes from Shimano Sora. Opting for a 1x10 drivetrain, in the more comfortable flatbar version, comes with Shimano hydraulic brakes.
