Campagnolo Super Record Ultra 2026 Kit: Technical Analysis of the Upgrade with Carbon, Titanium, and Ceramic Components
Campagnolo Super Record Ultra 2026 Kit: Technical Analysis of the Upgrade with Carbon, Titanium, and Ceramic Components
Campagnolo has introduced an upgrade kit named Ultra, aimed at increasing the lightness and premium positioning of the Super Record 13 groupset. This kit replaces existing components with elements made of carbon fiber, titanium, and low-friction ceramic bearings, pursuing an incremental performance improvement.
Objective and Weight Savings
The Ultra kit was developed for those seeking further weight optimization on the Super Record 13 groupset. The total cost of the upgrade amounts to € 1,114 for an overall mass saving ranging between 61 g and 81 g. This reduction makes the Super Record 13, already considered the lightest contemporary road groupset, even lighter.
For reference, the maximum saving of 81 g is achievable with the compact configuration (50T chainring and 11-36T cassette), while the more speed-oriented configuration (52T chainring and 10-33T cassette) offers a saving of 61 g.
Ultra Kit Components and Technical Modifications
The Ultra kit is composed of three main elements, available as upgrades for the Super Record 13 groupset:
1. Ultra Carbon Chainrings
The new Ultra chainrings feature a carbon fiber structure with co-molded teeth made of machined 7075 aluminum.
Technical Details: The carbon structure is designed to increase shifting rigidity. A weight reduction between 22% and 30% is declared on the large chainring. The chainrings are available only in 50-tooth (50T) and 52-tooth (52T) sizes.
Prices in Euro:
Single Ultra Chainring: € 330.
Pair of Ultra Chainrings: € 430.
2. Ultra Cassettes with Titanium Cogs
The Ultra cassettes differ from the standard Super Record 13 model (entirely steel) by replacing the upper steel cog monoblock with CNC-machined titanium cogs. The lower part of the cassette retains hardened steel cogs to preserve durability.
Technical Details: The material substitution allows for a weight saving of 16% for the 11-36T cassette (where 5 upper cogs are titanium) and 12% for the 10-33T cassette (where 4 upper cogs are titanium). The titanium cogs feature the Campagnolo QR logo laser-etched, contrasting with the new "black chrome" finish on the steel cogs to reduce drivetrain friction and noise.
Prices in Euro:
Ultra Cassette (10-33T or 11-36T): € 620.
3. Ultra Ceramic Bottom Bracket Bearings
The Ultra upgrade reintroduces dual-seal ceramic bearings into the Super Record bottom bracket, a technology previously removed with the introduction of the Super Record S.
Technical Details: The silicon nitride (ceramic) bearings restore USB (Ultra Smooth Bearings) technology, pairing ceramic balls with steel races. The modification results in a mass saving of 3 g compared to standard steel bearings.
Prices in Euro:
Ultra Ceramic Bearings (bottom bracket kit): € 164.
Availability and Upgrade Strategy
The new Super Record 13 Ultra components are available individually, allowing users to proceed with the upgrade based on performance priorities or the natural wear of the existing groupset components.
