New Giant Anthem XC 2026: Everything You Need to Know
Giant has previewed a new version of its Anthem cross-country race bike, featuring 120mm of travel and a significant overhaul of its suspension system. Reigning world champion and Giant-sponsored athlete, Alan Hatherly, was heavily involved in the development of this prototype.
Frame Design and Suspension System Changes
The new Giant Anthem XC design marks a considerable departure from the current model. The main innovation is the repositioning of the shock, which is now mounted higher and suspended beneath the top tube. This configuration, increasingly common in modern cross-country bikes, optimizes space within the front triangle of the frame.
This structural modification allows for the accommodation of two full-sized water bottles inside the main frame—a crucial feature for marathon-length cross-country races and a growing expectation on contemporary XC platforms.
Giant has stated that the development of the frame's carbon layup will continue to refine stiffness, ride quality, and overall performance. The frame appears to utilize Giant's Advanced SL carbon layup, the brand's lightest and stiffest construction, combined with a one-piece carbon cockpit.
Cockpit Details and Components
The prototype features a one-piece carbon cockpit with fully internal cable routing through the handlebar and stem. Cables enter the frame via a molded channel on the underside of the handlebar and through the headset, contributing to a clean aesthetic and improved aerodynamics.
The prototype was also fitted with unbranded carbon wheels. While no official confirmation has been given, they bear a significant resemblance to designs from Cadex, Giant’s premium components brand. If confirmed, this would mark Cadex's entry into the mountain bike wheel segment.
