New Canyon Sender CFR 2025: Technical Analysis and Key Features

Design Philosophy:

The development of this platform focused on two key aspects: optimal traction and maximum acceleration. While downhill speed was the primary goal, maximizing cornering grip was deemed crucial to reduce the need to brake and promote effective acceleration out of corners. This philosophy led to the adoption of a high main pivot design.

Suspension System:

The bike features a high single pivot rear suspension system with 200 mm of travel. This design is designed to keep the rear wheel glued to the ground. The integration of a derailleur pulley aims to limit chain stretch to a fraction of a millimeter, virtually eliminating pedal kickback. As a result, the suspension should remain active during both hard pedaling and braking or impact phases. A high anti-rise value (130%) is designed to allow for later braking in corners without losing grip.

The suspension system design includes a complex system of interconnected lower links that act on the shock absorber. This solution allows Canyon engineers to refine the suspension kinematics, achieving greater sensitivity in the initial phase of the travel and more support in the final part of the travel. The claimed result is a more consistent feeling of the suspension in the final phase of its travel, allowing riders to push the bike more aggressively through corners and on more challenging sections.

Adjustable Geometry:

The new Canyon Sender CFR adopts a "mullet" configuration (front wheel larger than the rear) for a balance between speed and agility on technical trails. Compared to the previous model, the bike has a slightly greater reach (+8 mm) and a higher stack (+4-9 mm).

The reach-adjustable headset cups offer +/- 8mm of adjustment, allowing you to return to your previous position or opt for a longer position for more stability.

The effective head angle in the “High” position remains unchanged at 63°. However, a flip-chip at the bottom bracket allows you to lower the height by 5mm (from 352 to 347mm) and slacken the head angle to 62.7° for steeper trails or where less pedal clearance is required.

The upper shock mount is adjustable, giving riders additional control over the suspension leverage ratio. Two positions are available: 32.7% for a more linear and “plush” suspension, or 37% for more progressivity that can absorb larger impacts.

KIS Steering Stabilizer:

The new Sender CFR comes standard with the KIS (Keep It Stable) steering stabilizer. This system, already seen in use by some riders in the previous season, promises stability at high speeds, even on rough terrain at slower than World Cup speeds. For riders who have not yet adapted to the benefits of the KIS, the system is adjustable for a very subtle effect or can be easily removed via a cover plate supplied with the bike.

Technical Details:

High-end CFR carbon fiber frame.
HIT (High Impact Technology) with carbon polymer reinforcements for greater protection of the down tube from impacts.
Rear polymer mudguards to protect the linkages from rear wheel spray.
Down tube protection and rocker arm bumper to protect the frame from rock strikes.
Silent rubber protectors for the chainstay and seat stay.
Low center of gravity thanks to the positioning of the linkages around the bottom bracket.
Maximum adjustability for DH use: bottom bracket height, head angle, frame reach, shock leverage ratio and adjustable KIS steering stabilization.
Fully guided and silent internal cable routing.
Easily accessible pivot bolts and extra sealing of the bearings.
Replaceable threaded inserts for increased frame durability.
Traditional Boost 12x148 mm rear spacing.
Compatible with DH Boost specific hubs, but the option to fit an enduro wheel if needed.

Pricing and Availability:

There are two complete versions of the 2025 Canyon Sender CFR available, both with the same premium carbon frame in light blue or full black:

Canyon Sender CFR Underdog: Priced at €4500. Build includes a carbon CFR frame, Fox 40 fork, DHX2 Performance shock, SRAM Maven Bronze brakes and a SRAM GX DH 7-speed drivetrain. (Not available in the US).
Canyon Sender CFR Team: Price of €6000. Equipped with a RockShox Boxxer Ultimate fork, Vivid Coil Ultimate shock, SRAM Maven Silver brakes, a full SRAM X01 DH drivetrain, DT FR1500 aluminum wheels, and a G5 component spec. (Available globally.)
