4. Paintwork and T47 Bottom Bracket

Trek utilizes the T47 bottom bracket, which is generally excellent, however:

  • Fragile Paint on Dropouts: Cases of small paint chips flaking off in the thru-axle and rear dropout areas have been reported after only a few wheel changes.
  • SLR Tolerances: On SLR frames (OCLV 900 carbon), the extreme lightness of the material makes the frame walls very thin in certain areas. Some owners have noticed visible "flexing" of the carbon when pressing with fingers in non-structural zones, raising concerns (often unjustified, but aesthetically anxiety-inducing) regarding long-term durability.
