New Trek Roscoe Gen 4 2026: Pricing, Specs, and Release of the New Hardtail

Trek has unveiled the Roscoe Gen 4, a completely redesigned version of its popular trail hardtail. The new model is based on consumer feedback to deliver a more capable and fun bike right out of the box. The new Roscoe features a updated design, modern geometry, and increased fork travel, positioning it as an aggressive and versatile hardtail.

Specs and Frame Design

The Roscoe Gen 4 frame is made from Alpha NEXT Platinum Aluminum, a material that Trek states has a lower environmental impact. The frame's weight has been optimized, making it 100 grams lighter than the previous version. The design has been updated with straighter lines for a more aggressive look.

Fork Travel: The frame is designed for a 150 mm fork, an increase from the previous 140 mm model. It is also approved for forks with up to 160 mm of travel.

Wheels: The Small frame size comes with 27.5-inch wheels, while sizes Medium through Extra-Large are equipped with 29-inch wheels.

Geometry: The head tube angle remains at 65 degrees. The standover height and seat tube length have been reduced to improve compatibility with longer-travel dropper posts.

Cable Routing: Cables are routed internally, with a dedicated tunnel for the dropper post.

Components: The bike features a threaded bottom bracket, Boost 12 x 148 mm axle spacing, and a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH).

Frame Features and Details

Trek has included several features to improve the frame's practicality and protection.

Protection: The Roscoe Gen 4 has molded rubber chainstay protection and a new bolt-on downtube protector.

Mounting Points: Water bottle bosses are located on the downtube. An additional accessory mount has been added to the underside of the top tube.

Frame Bag: The bike comes with a model-specific, bolt-on frame bag, which provides some on-bike storage while still allowing a water bottle to fit on the frame.

Headset: The use of ZS (Zero Stack) headset cups allows for an angle-adjust headset to be used for geometry modifications.

Geometry: Technical Details for a Better Ride Experience

The geometry of the Roscoe Gen 4 has been optimized for trail riding.

Seat Angle: The effective seat tube angle has been made steeper, starting at 75 degrees on the Small size and increasing to 77 degrees on the XL, for a more efficient and comfortable pedaling position.

Reach and Handlebar: The reach is moderate, ranging from 415 mm on the Small to 500 mm on the Extra-Large. The handlebar has a 15 mm rise on the Small size and 40 mm on all other sizes.

Chainstays: The chainstay length is 430 mm across all sizes, except for the Small, which has a shorter 425 mm length to accommodate the 27.5-inch wheels.

Builds and Pricing

The Trek Roscoe Gen 4 is available in two complete builds.

Roscoe 8 Gen 4: Priced at $2,399. It features a Fox Rhythm 36 fork, Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain, 4-piston Shimano Deore brakes, and Bontrager Brevard Pro XR 2.5” tires.

Roscoe 7 Gen 4: Priced at $1,499. It comes with a RockShox Recon Silver RL fork, a Shimano CUES 10-speed drivetrain, Shimano MT200 brakes, and Bontrager Gunnison Pro XR 2.4” tires.

Claimed weights are 14.18 kg (31.27 lbs.) for the Roscoe 8 and 14.53 kg (32.04 lbs.) for the Roscoe 7 (size M, with tubeless sealant).

The Trek Roscoe Gen 4 is now available in North America through local Trek dealers, Trek stores, and online.
