Santa Cruz recently introduced the Vala, which featured a four-bar suspension system. Now, the company is introducing a significant redesign of the Bullit, featuring a new suspension setup, updated geometry, and a new drivetrain.
The Bullit is billed as a “downhill bike with an integrated chairlift,” underscoring its focus on pedal-assist descents. Like the Vala, the Bullit features a four-bar suspension system. This design choice is driven by the increased complexity of integrating the motor with the previous VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) design. The new suspension layout optimizes the placement of the motor and pivot points, while still providing clearance for a tire, chainring, and longer dropper posts.
A significant change is the introduction of a Small size, extending the range all the way up to an XXL. All sizes adopt an MX wheel configuration, with a 29" front and a 27.5" rear. The front and rear travel is 170 mm, designed to tackle demanding trails. The geometry and progression of the shock are adjustable via independent flip chips.
The powertrain is provided by Bosch, with a Performance Line CX motor and a fixed 600 Wh battery. The manufacturer claims a weight saving of over 1 kg compared to an 800 Wh battery, deemed adequate for most rides. For those who need more autonomy, a 250 Wh PowerMore range extender will be available, weighing in at around 1.5 kg.
Complete Bullit configurations weigh less than 22.7 kg (50 lbs) for both the CC and C carbon frames. The heaviest version, equipped with SRAM 70 Eagle, has a claimed weight of 22.4 kg (49.4 lbs). The top-of-the-line X0 AXS RSV model boasts a claimed weight of 21.9 kg (48.17 lbs).
The starting price is set at around 7,399 euros.
