4. Paint and Fragility of Superlight Carbon
On LAB71 models (the flagship range), paint thickness is kept to a minimum to save every possible gram.
- Easy Chipping: The finish is extremely delicate. Stones kicked up by the front wheel can permanently mark the down tube. It is highly recommended to apply a transparent protection kit (such as "Invisiframe") before the first ride.
- T47 Bottom Bracket Tolerances: The move to the T47 (threaded) standard has resolved creaking issues. However, if the faces of the bottom bracket shell are not perfectly parallel (a post-paint machining defect), micro-tensions can occur, leading to premature bearing wear.
