New Specialized Turbo Levo R e-Bike: Price, Weight, Performance, Range, and Opinions
The 2026 Specialized Turbo Levo R Debuts. Featuring a FACT 11M carbon frame, it is 2.4kg lighter than the Levo 4, equipped with 29" wheels and Genie suspension for unprecedented agility.
Less Travel, More Speed: The 2026 Levo R Formula and Our Review
At first glance, it resembles a Levo 4, but the substance changes radically. Specialized has reduced the travel by 20mm, bringing it to 140mm at the rear and 130mm at the front.
The Weight Advantage: Thanks to a new FACT 11M carbon layup and a carbon upper link, the frame alone saves 530 grams. Complete builds are up to 2.4 kg lighter than the Levo 4, with weights starting as low as 18.8 kg (for the most aggressive builds).
29" Wheels: Unlike the "mullet" setup (27.5" rear wheel) typical of downhill-oriented e-bikes, the Levo R adopts the full 29er standard. This improves rollover capability and maintains momentum on pedaled sections (the mullet setup remains only for the XS size).
"Genie" Technology: The Best of Both Worlds
One of the highlights is the shock featuring Genie technology. This dual-air-chamber system offers:
Extreme sensitivity and a linear feel in the first half of the travel (similar to a coil spring).
Incredible end-stroke progression, making bottom-outs nearly impossible even on the largest jumps, despite the reduced travel.
Turbo 3.1 Motor: Power Without Compromise
Despite the reduced weight, Specialized did not opt for a "light" motor. The Levo R is equipped with the powerful 3.1 motor (the same as the Levo 4), recently updated:
S-Works: Up to 850W peak power and 111Nm of torque.
Standard: Up to 810W and 105Nm.
Quietness: Internal gears feature a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating for benchmark-setting smoothness and silence.
2026 Range and Pricing
Model Motor Suspension Weight (Claimed) Price (Euro)
S-Works Levo R 850W / 111Nm Fox Factory / Roval SL Cockpit 21.16 kg (std build) € 14,000
Levo R Expert 810W / 105Nm Fox Performance Elite 21.76 kg € 10,000
Levo R Comp 810W / 105Nm Fox Performance / Alloy wheels 22.34 kg € 8,000
Tech Goodies and Geometry
The geometry is highly adjustable: you can vary the head tube angle by +/- 1°, raise the bottom bracket, or lengthen the chainstays via flip-chips. Additionally, the frame hides the practical "Wattage Cottage", a storage compartment above the battery, and features Apple Find My integration to track the bike in case of theft.
Conclusion: Who Is This Bike For?
The Turbo Levo R is the ideal bike for those who love an active riding style, pumping through rollers and snapping the bike out of corners. If you are looking for a machine that plows through everything like a tank, stick with the Levo 4. However, if you seek surgical precision and want an e-bike that handles almost like a traditional bike (but with "infinite turbo"), the Levo R is the new benchmark.
