In 1993, Yamaha's many years of research and development finally paid off when the company introduced a new type of bicycle featuring the innovative "Power Assist System" (PAS). Consisting of a battery-powered electric motor and featuring a computerized controller connected to torque and speed sensors, the Yamaha PAS was the world's first production eBike. Aimed at the Japanese commuter and daily commuting market, the original Yamaha PA26 ushered in a new era of zero-emission vehicles that would give rise to the entire eBike movement.

Yamaha: pioneer of eBikes

Since 1993, Yamaha has played a pioneering role in the development of all aspects of eBikes, including drive units, electronic control technologies, batteries, interfaces and frame design. In addition to producing complete eBikes for the Japanese market, Yamaha has also been supplying eBike system kits to major European bicycle manufacturers since 2013.

In 2018 Yamaha launched its range of eBikes in the global market starting from the United States and entered some European markets in 2022 with three new models: the MORO 07 eMTB, the gravel Wabash RT and the city CrossCore RC. Thirty years after producing the world's first eBike, Yamaha has established itself as one of the most innovative brands in this rapidly expanding market, which is transforming the daily lives of commuters and adding an exciting new dimension for professional or amateur cyclists .

PW-X3 motor unit for instant power

Yamaha's zero-cadence technology offers instant power delivery at the slightest pedal push. The specially developed freewheel gives a feeling of lightness and naturalness when pedaling at over 25 km/h.

Exclusive Dual Twin frame

The unique Dual Twin frame features dual top tubes and two down tubes designed to deliver a finely tuned stiffness balance that delivers confident handling and more precise terrain feel.

This innovative chassis was developed together with the powerful and compact PW-X3 drive unit, allowing Yamaha engineers to achieve ideal chassis dimensions with excellent ground clearance and a compact wheelbase.

Superior quality amenities
