Trek Domane AL 3 Disc 2023 Road test review Build quality

The quality level is good, a racing bike however well finished and cared for.

Everything is well done, then there are three colors and a wide range of sizes.

Excellent warranty and assistance.

Over the years the chassis has proven to be very reliable, there shouldn't be any major problems.

The value for money is therefore good, not at the top but valid.

The bike under test has a price of around 1450 euros, it's not under a thousand euros, but it's also a well-made and well-finished bike, let's say a luxury entry level ...

Trek Domane AL 3 Disc 2023 Road Test Review Frame

The frame is very well made, one of the best aluminum frames, well-finished, available in different sizes, well painted.

Very reliable and long lasting.

The choice of colors is equally excellent.

A nice frame for an inexpensive but good racing bike.

Trek Domane AL 3 Disc 2023 Road Test Assemblies Review

The Domane AL frame is available with different assemblies, the AL 3 version is the intermediate one with the Shimano Sora group and mechanically operated disc brakes.

An assembly in line with its list price.

A bike that is not light, about 10.30 kg, for this very reason we would have preferred a choice of shorter ratios, to facilitate difficult climbs, instead we chose the traditional 50/34 and 11/32 at 9 speeds.

Unfortunately it is a problem of all entry level racing bikes.

Trek Domane AL 3 Disc 2023 Road test Comfort review

The Trek Domane AL 3 2023 keeps its promises of a comfortable road bike.

It can't come close to a carbon fiber endurance frame, but ride comfort is still good, great for an aluminum-framed race bike.

To do better, you need to switch to a carbon frame, with much higher costs.

Long bike rides are therefore easily doable.

Trek Domane AL 3 Disc 2023 Road Test Review Guide

The Trek Domane AL3 is a road bike that is easy and safe to ride, precise and stable at high speeds.

It remains slightly less stable than the carbon fiber framed Domane, but nothing major.

Not very easy to handle, on the other hand, it is very stable and safe on bumpy roads.

Insensitive to lateral winds, it engages very little in driving.

A very safe and also relaxing racing bike ... a pleasure to ride for pure fun.

Braking is good, the bike is very stable, to have limited stopping distances you need to pull the levers hard, but the modilability is excellent.

An excellent frame, very safe, perfect for driving on roads open to traffic and for the amateur who does not want bicycles that are difficult or unsafe to ride, as well as expensive.

Trek Domane AL 3 Disc 2023 Road test review Performance

In absolute terms, with over 10kg of weight, the performances are disappointing, but within its price range they are excellent.

A rigid and reactive frame, only slowed down by the overall weight.

In any case, excellent performance on the plains (where weight has little effect) and good on the hills.

Only on really difficult climbs can you be in trouble.

Downhill, however, the Trek Domane AL 3 is once again very competitive, stable, precise, extremely fast, in spite of braking that can undoubtedly be improved.

Equally good behavior stretches of asphalt ruined, where stability and ride comfort allow you to concentrate only on pedalling.

Among the racing bikes with an aluminum frame and with a price close to 1000 euros, it always remains one of the best endurance racing bikes.

An excellent product for its price range and in certain situations even valid against more expensive competitors.

Trek Domane AL 3 Disc 2023 Road test review Pros and cons

The Trek Domane AL 3 continues to set the benchmark for entry level endurance bikes.

A product still valid today, not really cheap, but globally competitive in its category and also with many winning aspects in absolute terms.

Ride comfort is of a good level, safety and ease of driving are at the absolute top.

Good general quality.

It weighs over 10 kg, its only flaw, but all direct competitors are no better.

A bike to "taste" calmly, to have fun, otherwise if you're looking for performance it's a disappointment.
