2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike test review Build quality
The 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike has a fairly high cost, but much cheaper than the carbon frame version.
The sizes available are the classic four basics, just as the 360wh battery is certainly not the top.
Even the 50Nm power motor is not the best.
In part, all of this was sought to have a light bicycle, but in the end we are talking about 20.5 kg and 7700 Euros.
Few or too many?
The versions with carbon frame cost twice as much and weigh a little less ...
When we say carbon e-mtb frames are a waste of money… we know what we mean…
The overall build quality is valid, the value for money is good and better than the carbon frame version.
In the end, in a comparison, this 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike is much better than the version with a carbon frame.
2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike test review Frame
New frame, new geometries, new everything, everything like the carbon version, but made of aluminum, slightly heavier, but much cheaper and more reliable in the event of a fall.
All 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike follows the carbon frame version with a new weight distribution, so that the e-mtb behaves like a mtb.
This has also led to some sacrifices, such as the engine with little torque, small battery, reduced range.
However, the frame is very well made.
2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike test review Assemblies
The range of assemblies is complete and wide, with three versions, perhaps too similar and with prices that remain high, but essentially for those who want this model, there is no shortage of choice.
The build and assembly quality, in each version, is high.
The value for money is very good, especially in the entry-level version (about 5650 euros).
2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike test review Comfort
With 140 and 150mm suspension it is useless to talk about ride comfort.
It remains on an excellent level.
There are no differences with the version with carbon fiber frame.
2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike test review Guide
The 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike is certainly not a light bike, nor so powerful or with a high range.
However, it turns out to have a great driving balance and achieves the goal of being very similar in behavior to a muscle bicycle.
Excellent traction and ease of driving uphill, valid performance on the plains.
There are no particular differences compared to the version with a carbon fiber frame.
Perhaps a little stiffer and more reactive, a little more nervous when steering, with the same suspension settings, but nothing particularly relevant, such as to justify the dizzying increase in cost of the version with a carbon fiber frame.
The downhill behavior is excellent, where the 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike actually behaves like a traditional mtb, you only feel the greater weight, but handling, stability and riding balance are similar.
Excellent braking and good suspension, smooth and easy to set up.
A beautiful e-mtb suitable for descending, but also valid for climbing, perfect for fast and medium-slow routes, with difficulty only on very slow routes.
2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike test review Performance
The heavy weight and low power of the engine and its autonomy are the weak points of the 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike, compared to other direct competitors.
Coming down from more powerful e-bikes, the difference is clearly felt, but if you go down from the same Trek Fuel EXe Carbon version, the differences are imperceptible.
Just slower than the direct competitor and with a slightly shorter range.
For long rides, over 50km, the external battery becomes a mandatory accessory, but where you go with the version with a carbon fiber frame, you also go with this 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike.
Without the thrust of the engine, the 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike remains fun downhill, but difficult and heavy to pedal on the flat and especially uphill.
Running out of battery is always a problem and even this 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike does not escape this always forgotten detail ...
The driving dynamics are better than many e-bikes, stable, precise, fast, excellent overall.
Its strong point is downhill, where it has very few rivals, while uphill and on long journeys you miss the engine performance and greater range.
Overall though we wouldn't trade this 2023 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy for the more expensive carbon fiber version...
Perhaps its best quality is this, it's good for that which costs and like many other similar models.
To get a little more you can't spend double ...
2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike test review Pros and cons
The 2024 Trek Fuel EXe Alloy ebike has proven to be a very valid, competitive and even better e-bike than the much more expensive version with a carbon fiber frame.
Like all light e-mtb bikes, it has an underpowered motor and reduced autonomy.
They may or may not be a problem.
If you want a mtb with an "electric help" then it's your bike, otherwise a heavier, more powerful e-bike with greater autonomy is better.
The price is good for what the Trek Fuel EXe Alloy offers.
