With a very long launch and gestation Specialized presented the new Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 2023 2024 in official form and, at the same time, also the Tarmac SL8 Pro and Tarmac SL8 Expert versions.

Such a long gestation that at the end of the new Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 2023 2024 racing bike we had anticipated everything and everything with excellent precision, even in the absence of official press releases.

Enough to wonder how much the new Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 2023 2024 was really designed and why so much was expected in presenting it.

A mystery that will remain so and that, in the end, it doesn't matter.

The top-of-the-range price has remained substantially unchanged, but the average prices have increased and in the end, for an almost 8kg bike, you need to spend 6500 euros, which is not a small amount at all.

Someone criticized the aesthetics of the frame, with the large headset and the rest of the small tubes, actually not a pretty sight, but in the end a racing bike must be fast, Specialized must have had its reasons for doing it this way .

The geometries remain unchanged, so it's always the usual Tarmac, precise, easy to handle, safe at high speeds.

Despite everything, however, the new Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 remains a "heavy" bike, certainly lighter than the SL7, but heavier than other competitors, very few indeed.

We believe that it will not "steal" customers from other brands, but surely Specialized fans will swap their SL7 for the new SL8.

With prices and costs that are certainly not popular and hardly justified by the innovations made to the bicycle.

Because 16 seconds are enormous in competition, for an athlete who develops 1000watts, but for an amateur who develops 250watts, what are they? and how many are there really?

Because the doubt, more than legitimate, is that in the end for the classic Sunday amateur SL7 or SL8 they are in the end the same or almost.

So why spend more money?

The law of the market, however, says otherwise and Specialized has achieved all its objectives, following what the market wants today:

- Lightweight racing bicycle, with disc brakes and electronic groupset.

Despite the delay with which it arrived, it is a point of reference, even if, as we had expected, it does not differ much from the previous model and clashes with equally light and often lighter models.

A real flaw is that it lacks a truly innovative technical feature, something that distinguishes it from the rest of the racing bikes.

The usual Specialized remains, anonymous, efficient, valid, but it is difficult to turn around to look at it ...

Certainly for amateur use it is not worth the money it costs, for everything else it is an excellent racing bike, with a price in line with its main competitors.
