Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Alloy: Accessibility and Performance in Aluminum for eMTB
Introduction
Specialized has expanded the range of its Turbo Levo 4 e-mountain bike by introducing two new configurations with M5 alloy frames. This strategy aims to make the technology and performance of the fourth generation Turbo Levo accessible to a wider audience, while maintaining the key features of the drivetrain and advanced geometry, previously only available on carbon models. The following article describes the technical specifications and market positioning of these new alloy variants.
E-Bike System Overview
The alloy versions of the Turbo Levo 4 inherit the same e-bike system from the carbon frame models, ensuring high performance:
Specialized 3.1 Motor: This engine delivers a peak power of 666 watts and a maximum torque of 101 Nm. It is important to note that the top version, the S-Works 3.1 motor (with 720 W and 111 Nm), remains exclusive to the S-Works carbon model.
Battery: All alloy configurations are equipped with an 840 Wh battery, located in the down tube and easily removable for charging or replacement. This capacity allows for an extended range, estimated at up to 5.33 hours in Eco mode. Compatibility with an optional 280 Wh range extender (for a total capacity of 1120 Wh) is supported by the system architecture.
MasterMind T3 Display: The MasterMind T3 display, integrated into the top tube, offers a customizable user interface. It provides real-time data, advanced motor control via MicroTune, and integration with the Specialized app for optimized riding and battery management.
Frame and Geometry
The Turbo Levo 4 Alloy frame is constructed from a premium M5 alloy, closely replicating the geometry and functional characteristics of the carbon models. This includes:
Suspension Travel: 150mm of rear wheel travel, paired with a 160mm fork.
Wheel Size: A mullet configuration with a 29-inch front wheel and 27.5-inch rear wheel, chosen to optimize the balance between obstacle-climbing ability and agility.
Adjustments Geometry: The frame offers extensive geometry customization possibilities via swappable headset cups, flip-chips on the shock pivot, and chainstays. These adjustments allow the rider to adapt the behavior of the bike to the riding style, terrain and personal preferences.
SWAT™ Storage: The frame integrates the SWAT™ storage system, a solution for storing essential tools and accessories inside the down tube, even with the battery present.

Market Positioning
The introduction of the Turbo Levo 4 Alloy models represents a strategic move for Specialized. While the carbon models retain a higher-end positioning (with prices starting at around €7,999.00 for the Levo 4 Comp Carbon and reaching €14,499.00 for the S-Works Turbo Levo 4), the alloy versions offer more affordable access to the Levo 4 platform's flagship technology. The Turbo Levo 4 Comp Alloy, in particular, is perceived as a high-quality solution for the price, combining top-of-the-line components with a superior with a durable alloy frame.
These new e-MTBs are available through the Specialized website and authorized retailers, offering a solid alternative for riders who want a powerful and versatile e-mountain bike without the investment required by carbon fiber frames.
