Fabian Cancellara to also have his “Classic”

On Sunday 26 March, the active cycling enthusiasts get the unique opportunity to cycle in the tracks of Fabian Cancellara on the course of “his” E3 Harelbeke. The Fabian Cancellara Classic will be the opener of the brand new Continental Cycling Heroes Tour.

Fabian Cancellara won the Record Bank E3 Harelbeke (UCI World Tour) three times, each time putting in a huge performance based on sheer power, the way only Flandriens can. It is on this course in the Flemish Ardennes that Fabian invites all amateur cyclists to join him in conquering the winding roads and high-profile hills of the E3 during the Fabian Cancellara Classic on Sunday 26 March 2017. With passages across hills such as the Paterberg and the Oude Kwaremont in the last 50km, it is bound to be a beautiful course for anyone that loves a challenging ride!

The Fabian Cancellara Classic opens the brand new Continental Cycling Heroes Tour, a series of premium cycling tours for amateur cyclists where the rider is challenged by a World or Olympic Champion on his training grounds or favourite cycling race course. The Philippe Gilbert Classic will take place for the fourth time this year in his birthplace, the village of Aywaille. In September this year, Sven Nys also got his “classic”, through the Hageland, whereas The Greg Van Avermaet Classic was presented to the public three weeks ago, and will take place on Greg’s favourite training course in the Flemish Ardennes.

Tire manufacturer Continental is the proud title partner of the Continental Cycling Heroes Tour. “With this partnership, Continental wants to show its engagement in the cycling world: our company vision is a world without traffic accidents. Whether you are on the bike or in the car, the quality of your tires is absolutely vital,” says Jan Vandenbussche, marketing manager at Continental Benelux. “We noticed we have an irreproachable reputation in terms of cycling tires, but we represent so much more, such as premium car tires and high tech drive assistance systems which offer sustainable mobility and maximum safety to all road users. With the Continental Cycling Heroes Tour we want to emphasize this to the amateur cyclists.”

For the Greg Van Avermaet Classic on 13 May, with start and finish in Berlare and a course that goes via the Muur van Geraardsbergen, La Houppe and the Berendries, the registrations are open now via www.continentalcyclingheroes.be. Registrating for the Fabian Cancellara Classic is possible as of 20 December on the same website.
