New Devinci E-Spartan Lite 2026: Photos, Price, Weight, Performance, Specs, Full Review – Everything You Need to Know

Introduction

In the e-MTB landscape, choosing a model capable of tackling challenging terrain is crucial, considering the motor's ability to assist climbing. For 2026, Devinci introduces a mid-power pedal-assisted model of its Spartan enduro bicycle: the E-Spartan Lite. This new model is designed to tackle technical trails, and its Bosch drive system offers sufficient assist power to significantly extend the rider's capabilities. This article outlines the launch of the new E-Spartan Lite configurations.

Devinci E-Spartan Lite: Key Features

The E-Spartan Lite is exclusively available with a Canadian-made 6061-T6 Optimum G04 aluminum frame. All frames are hand-welded and hand-aligned, then undergo final machining to ensure precise build quality. Devinci emphasizes that the frame design offers high stiffness and an excellent strength-to-weight ratio.

Suspension: The E-Spartan Lite does not feature the high-pivot suspension linkage found on the Spartan HP. This decision was made to keep the bike lighter and simpler overall, adopting a more traditional linkage. Despite lacking the high-pivot treatment, the 165 mm Split Pivot linkage on the E-Spartan Lite offers 5 mm more travel than the Spartan HP. This system has been specifically optimized for an e-MTB, ensuring the suspension remains active even during hard acceleration. Devinci has tuned its linkages to work effectively with both air and coil shocks, making the robust E-Spartan Lite a good candidate for a coil shock. Pivot points are equipped with Enduro double-lip sealed bearings for long-lasting, smooth action. Up front, both models come equipped with 170 mm RockShox Zeb forks.

Wheel Configuration: The E-Spartan Lite uses an MX wheel set (29" front and 27.5" rear) and is designed to be ridden in this configuration. There is no flip chip, like the one used on Devinci's Troy MTBs to accommodate different wheel options, and no geometry has been provided for matched 29" wheels.

e-MTB-Specific Cranks: An e-MTB-specific touch is the adoption of short cranks – the E-Spartan Lite comes with 155 mm crank arms. The shorter arms reduce pedal strikes, and Devinci states that they also contribute to a smoother cadence and better efficiency on technical climb trails.

Integrated Electrical Features: The E-Spartan Lite GX AXS 12s model integrates another useful e-MTB-specific feature: the wired-in AXS derailleur draws power from the bike's main battery, eliminating the need to charge a derailleur battery separately. The bike is configured to cut pedal assist power with 2% battery life remaining, leaving a bit of juice to still allow gear shifting.

Build Specs and Frame Details

The E-Spartan Lite frame features internal cable routing, with Devinci's preferred straight entry ports at the head tube to prevent cable rub or rattling.

Axles and Dropouts: Other specifications include a Boost 148 mm rear axle and SRAM UDH dropouts. Built for gnarly terrain, the E-Spartan Lite includes an upper chain guide, and the frame provides clearance for up to 2.6-inch rear tires.

Seatpost: The frame uses a 31.6 mm seatpost. GX AXS models run 170, 200, and 230 mm posts on M/L/XL frames, while the Eagle 90 configuration retains a 200 mm post for the XL size.

Accessory Mounts: There is one water bottle mount atop the down tube, and all frame sizes can fit at least a 500 ml bottle with a reservoir rear shock. The possibility of fitting a larger bottle (e.g., 620 ml) has been observed, though with potential rubbing. A standard small water bottle or a cage/adapter that positions it lower in the frame would be ideal.

Frame Protection: The frame is protected from damage with chainstay and full-length down tube protectors, while the motor features a vented nylon shield to reduce heat buildup and allow for drainage.

Weight: The complete E-Spartan Lite GX AXS 12s (with pedals) has a measured weight of 21.61 kg (47.64 lbs), confirming Devinci's claim of 21.45 kg (47.29 lbs) without pedals.

Bosch Drive System

The E-Spartan Lite is assisted by the Bosch Performance Line SX motor, their lightest drive unit to date, offering 60 Nm of torque and a maximum output of 600 W.

Battery: Power comes from the Bosch CompactTube 400 Wh battery, hidden in the down tube. Removing the battery requires pulling out the motor, but this design significantly saves frame weight. The charge port is located above the motor on the bike's down tube.

Charging: With the included 4A charger, a full battery charge takes 3.5 hours, but the battery should reach 50% in 1.5 hours. A nice feature of the Bosch system is that it automatically shuts off once the battery is fully charged.

Range Extender: The E-Spartan Lite's range can be expanded with the Bosch PowerMore Range Extender, which adds an extra 250 Wh of energy for tackling longer rides. Using the range extender means sacrificing the water bottle mount, as the mounts for both overlap.

Controls: At the handlebar, Bosch's mini-remote provides the necessary controls. The compact and ergonomic remote allows you to toggle between assist levels and activate walk mode. The E-Spartan Lite is configured with Eco, Tour+, eMTB, and Turbo assist levels. Bosch's top tube display conveniently shows your battery life and assist level while riding, and also houses the bike's power button. You can also use the display's lower button to toggle through assist levels. Further customization, updates, and ride tracking features are available through Bosch's eBike Flow App.

Geometry

The E-Spartan Lite's frame geometry has two notable aspects: the absence of a flip chip and the availability of only three frame sizes, from M to XL.

Key Angles and Measurements: Head angles are slack at 63.5°, and seat tube angles range from 77.7° to 77.4° depending on frame size. Reach numbers are roomy but not huge, with a size M measuring 460 mm and a size L 480 mm. All frame sizes get shorter 436 mm chainstays.

Model Lineup
