Telefónica will be the technological partner and exclusive telecommunications provider for the next three editions of the Vuelta Ciclista a España, from the current 2017 edition until the 2019 edition, thanks to a collaboration agreement with Unipublic.
The coming together of these two companies means a meeting of two organisations with over 80 years’ experience, both leaders in Spain within their respective fields, and both strongly dedicated to innovating and to reaching everyone.
Unipublic´s General Director, Javier Guillén, has highlighted during the signing of the agreement that “La Vuelta has been experiencing a period of continuous growth over the past few years, and this is a huge step forward in that respect. The addition of a leading company such as Telefónica will allow us to continue growing in terms of the quality of our event, at every level”.
Luis Miguel Gilpérez, President of Telefónica España, said that “Telefónica has been linked to the world of cycling for many years. We were already a few years ago, in particular in the 90s as sponsors of the Spanish tour. And, since 2011, we are more than just an active part of the two-wheel sport with our Movistar Team. We are very proud to continue to give this race our most valuable asset, our brand, as it matches perfectly the values of effort, sacrifice and teamwork that we promote through Movistar”.
The 2017 Vuelta, that turns 72 this year, will take off on the 19th of August and will finish on the 10th of September, following a total of 21 stages.
