The new Canyon Torque can tackle technical trails at high speeds, jump off the biggest kickers and "stunt" cornering. Huge jumps and steep descents, the Torque is a long-excursion MTB perfect for having fun in the bikepark and for getting back up - without too much effort - to the beginning of the trail when there is no shuttle available.
Canyon left nothing to chance when it updated the geometry of the Torque. The new models have slower head tube angles, reduced offset forks, longer reach and steeper seat tube angles. The frame is stiffer, more durable and, yes, it can even mount the bottle cage! The changes come together to create a bike that is faster, more manageable, has better traction and is also ready for long, steady climbs that take you to the top of the toughest trails.
What really sets the Torque apart is that even after Canyon's pro riders and engineers put it to the test to find the best one-size-fits-all downhill bike, they've decided that, in reality, that size doesn't exist. He is the rider who knows the answer for himself, and so the Torque will now be available with 27.5 ", mullet (29" front and 27.5 "rear) and 29" wheels! Wheel size has a huge impact on how a bike feels and responds while riding, and each setup has its own advantages.
Whether a rider is looking for the 29er 's increased smoothness and high - speed stability, the 27.5' 'agility and cornering playfulness or the total fun factor of the mullet setup, the new Torque family has all the requirements covered.
The range's versatility improvements don't just stop at the wheels. While developing the Torque family, Canyon wanted to maintain ride quality across the board to ensure riders are thrilled with their bike regardless of the frame material they choose. To do this, the AL and CF versions of the bike each have their own dedicated development process. AL bikes use alloy-specific manufacturing and design innovations, such as bespoke tubes with more rounded profiles and straighter tube sections that improve frame strength. At just over 3250 grams, the new frame weighs around 250 grams less than the previous Torque AL, while improving stiffness, handling and performance across the board.
In the end, the Torque AL and the CF have never been so different but so close in ride quality. The Torque CF also surpasses its predecessors. Weighing in at 2,652 grams, the carbon fiber frame is surprisingly light for a bike park bike with 170mm of travel. What's even more impressive is that Canyon created such a lightweight frame by improving the stiffness-to-weight ratio.
The new frame has the same category 5 as the Downhill World Cup winner Sender, and adequately handles both freeride precision and bike park laps. The two mullet bikes in the line-up are for riders who prefer things steep and stylish. The front wheel maintains speed and rolls on any trail, while the smaller rear rim allows riders to ride steeper trails without worrying about feeling the tire vibrate.
We designed the Mullet by combining the Torque 29 ”front triangle and the Torque 27.7” rear triangle and put a lot of time and care into this design approach to make sure the geometry and kinematics are consistent across all three configurations. The Mullets - "business in the front, party in the back" - also have a little extra help for track traction thanks to the standard coil shock absorbers.
The CF 8 and CF Fabio Wibmer models are equipped with Fox and Öhlins shock absorbers. The Torque range starts with the € 2,699 * Torque 5 and its revolutionary aluminum frame.
