Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 Road test review Build quality

The Cannondale Supersix Evo GEN4 2023 is a well-crafted, expensive race bike, but from a quality point of view it is a valid race bike.

Those details that make the difference with handcrafted or small-series bikes are missing.

The six sizes available are the minimum that can be had, just as the choice of colors is really limited.

The graphics are also simple.

All elements that demonstrate how efforts have been made to reduce production costs, even without a real benefit for the customer.

Direct competitors do no better…

The range of assemblies is good, all excellent and for all budgets, even if the bike is still expensive, there is no real entry-level model.

The value for money is sufficient, the bike is expensive, but also well made.

Defects the total weight and the price.

Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 Road Test Review Frame

The frame of the Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 is of excellent quality, light, rigid and with good aerodynamics.

We can't explain how the complete bike is heavy enough.

Considering the list price, the color range is really limited.

Nothing can be customized.

In this version the weight is 7.1Kg, not a little, for a price of around 13500 euros, not cheap.

Some competitors, however, do not do better ... It's the new advancing ...

Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 Road Test Assemblies Review

Assembled with the Sram Red AXS group, the new Cannondale Supersix Evo Gen 4 2023 is a good quality racing bike, with a well done assembly and equally valid components.

Even though it's an expensive racing bike, there's no denying that it's still well made.

Too bad that all this does not translate into a truly competitive weight.

Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 Road test Comfort review

Ultimately it is one of the aspects that has remained the same as the previous model.

It's not an uncomfortable racing bike by far, but it's certainly a far cry from an endurance bike.

The ride comfort is valid from a racing bike perspective, similar but not better than other direct competitors.

There are, without a doubt, more comfortable racing bikes.

It is therefore not a racing bike for long relaxing rides ...

Keep this in mind, just as, at these levels, ride comfort takes second place for everyone, even if there may be frames that absorb vibrations better.

Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 Road Test Review Guide

The Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 does not substantially change the ride of the previous model, even if the new frame certainly modifies the responses to the commands given.

A heavy bike, but less than the previous model, stiffer.

It is therefore a more reactive bike, quicker to enter corners, more sensitive to high speeds.

Even in comparison with some competitors it is quicker to enter corners, quicker in rapid changes of direction, perhaps more sensitive and difficult to drive at high speeds.

On the stretches of refinished asphalt you can feel the rigidity of the frame and you need decision and concentration to follow a precise trajectory.

Ridden at an amateur pace, it's a very easy racing bike, but pushing harder it becomes more difficult to ride.

Excellent braking.

A racing bike that can't be steered with one hand, but it's not unstable or difficult to steer, on the other hand the handling is high.

From a racing bike perspective, the geometry is very good.

On a downhill path full of curves, one could create a vacuum ...

Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 Road test review Performance

The weight of the Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 can be considered its weak point.

It is true that other similar competitors have the same weight, but it is also true that its 7.1Kg is felt all uphill, compared to lighter competitors.

However, it should be noted that the weight-to-rigidity ratio seems to be valid, it has excellent power transmission and therefore allows unthinkable performance by looking at the weight alone.

It is certainly an excellent bike for powerful athletes, who will know how to make the most of its stiffness and aerodynamics.

Maybe it can struggle on really difficult climbs, but on still pedalable and medium-fast climbs it can be a very competitive bike.

So while there are racing bikes that are faster uphill, the overall performance is absolutely competitive.

The excellent rigidity of the frame and the good aerodynamics allow for competitive performance on the plains and hills, good uphill and excellent downhill.

An athlete who develops a lot of watts of power couldn't ask for anything better.

A simple amateur, perhaps, will only feel the weight and will not exploit aerodynamics or frame stiffness.

Overall an excellent racing bike for true agonists, perhaps only slightly penalized on the toughest climbs.

Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 Road test review Pros and cons

The Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod 1 Sram Red 2023 proved to be an excellent racing bike, but clearly it is also a very expensive bike.

Slightly heavy, compared to other competitors, it highlights good aerodynamics and excellent rigidity.

It's not a comfortable or very easy racing bike to ride, but with an experienced and trained athlete it can deliver absolutely competitive performance.

It goes very fast in the plains and hills, very well downhill and uphill.

It "gives up", at least for an amateur, only on really difficult and tough climbs.

Having said the merits (stiffness, aerodynamics, general performance) and the defects (weight, price, comfort), we point out that the entry level starts at over 6 thousand euros, too much for a racing bike weighing almost 8kg ...

A beautiful racing bike, but like all its direct competitors, the price is excessive for what it really offers to a simple amateur.
