Provide an athlete with a fast bike and they will go fast. Provide an athlete with the fastest performance system and they will go faster than ever before. This was the grounding principle behind Canyon’s latest development; the all-new Speedmax CF SLX.

Months of prototype testing are finally over. On Saturday, the 10th of October, the Speedmax CF SLX will make its official competition debut piloted by Canyon athletes. Jan Frodeno, Nils Frommhold, Bas Diederen and Boris Stein will push themselves to their physical limits on the legendary Ironman World Championship course in Kona, Hawaii. All have ridden the previous Speedmax CF to Ironman victories in the past. With the new Speedmax CF SLX, they will be better equipped than ever to take the biggest crown in the sport.

Canyon engineers took on the challenge of evolving one of the fastest bikes on the scene, the Speedmax CF (launched 2012), into the fastest overall system. Bike and rider. Focussing specifically on the needs of the athlete opened the door to next-level component integration. The resulting features not only enhance the performance of the Speedmax CF SLX, but also provide the athlete with the foundation they need to realise their full potential come race day.

Working closely with the best athletes in the world was crucial when coming up with the final concept. Jan Frodeno’s involvement was key: “Testing the feedback and the feel of the bike, that’s something where the engineers and designers are still reliant on our input and I’m very glad to feel a part of the actual development. The Speedmax CF SLX combines great aesthetics with all the needs of triathlon, every single detail has been thought through. It’s the complete package, and that’s hard to find.”

The Speedmax CF SLX prototype saw Frodeno to victory at the Ironman European Championships and Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Now complete, it’s time for the big one... Canyon is the Official Bike Partner of Ironman Kona 2015.
