ebike Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay SL 2026: Performance Update and Technical Specifications

The Canadian manufacturer Rocky Mountain, known for its in-house development of drive systems, has released a firmware update for its Dyname-S4 Lite motor. The update applies to the Instinct Powerplay SL model and is designed to optimize the system's power specifications.

The update increases the motor's peak power output from 550W to 700W, with a boost in maximum torque from 65 Nm to 75 Nm. The motor's weight remains unchanged at 2.26 kg. The bike is equipped with a 480 Wh battery and the option to add the Overtimepack 2.0 range extender, which provides an additional 314 Wh. The power delivery can be customized via the Jumbotron interface, which is integrated into the frame's top tube.

The firmware update has been available since September 12 and can only be installed at authorized Rocky Mountain dealers. It should be noted that the increase in peak power may affect the battery's range depending on usage.
