Shimano Cues Di2 2023 Road test review Build quality

Nothing to complain is the classic Shimano group, well made, not light, but of good overall quality.

Everything is done well, but the new Di2 technology costs a lot, almost like an old mechanical XT ...

Shimano Cues Di2 2023 Road test review group

The new Shimano Cues Di2 2023 group is complete with everything, but only available for ebikes, it joins only the new Shimano EP6 or EP8 ebike engine.

Maybe in the future there will be cranksets for muscular mtb, but currently it is a real limitation.

Overall it is a valid group, even if the weights are not contained.

As it is designed and conceived, it seems like a "forcing" by Shimano to buy the whole group.

Shimano Cues Di2 2023 Road test review drive

If you do not know that it is the entry level model you do not realize in the least the differences in operation compared to the XT 2023 group.

The rear change is precise and fast.

The noise level is not high.

It is assumed to be reliable.

The fluidity of the controls is valid.

Shimano Cues Di2 2023 Road test review Performance

Overall the group is fine, as an electronic group it is completely equivalent to the Shimano XT Di2, only heavier, but the functionality is the same.

Good speed and smoothness of the components.

It is not a light group in absolute terms, but competitive and going on an ebike the heavier weight becomes completely superfluous.

Shimano Cues Di2 2023 Road test review Pros and cons

The new Shimano Cues Di2 2023 groupset extends Shimano Di2 groups downwards, with a clear policy: the future of MTB is only electric pedal assist.

The new group is well made, functional, effective.

But in the end it is expensive and ebikes now cost like a good car, how long will this market addicted to useless innovations last?

At Eurobike there were already the first discontent: high prices, complexity and maintenance difficulties, heavy weights, accessories of dubious utility ...

In short, more than one cyclist has expressed his doubts about this technological evolution that has only increased the prices of bicycles, not their quality, performance and functionality.

Unfortunately, as done by Shimano, there are no alternatives, either you take this electronic group or you switch to other brands.
