The ALR 5 build relies on the 12-speed mechanical Shimano 105 groupset. This choice is strategic: it is a simple, extremely reliable, and cost-effective groupset for spare parts, with shifting performance that has little to envy compared to more expensive electronic systems.
Components: The wheels and finishing kit (handlebar, stem, saddle) are Bontrager branded. These are solid components, though not particularly light, which contribute to overall reliability at the expense of extreme lightness.
Brakes: Shimano 105 hydraulic discs offer benchmark modulation and stopping power for the category.
