Road test
After a few months, we can judge more calmly the new Wilier Zero.7, actually emerged more confirmations than negative aspects. The perceived quality is very high, the assembly proposed is good, although we remain convinced that the best groupset for this bike is the SRAM Red 22, or in any case a mechanical assembly, lighter than Ultegra Di2. Excellent however the Mavic Ksyrium SLR, perfect braking and excellent functionality of the Shimano Ultegra Di2. Very valid ergonomics handlebar Ritchey. It is not a standard assembly, but quietly replicable for those who want the electronic groupset without overspending, while remaining a competitive weight. The geometry is not exaggerated, so you don't end up with a bust particularly tilted forward. The ride quality is good, even higher than the previous model and no doubt among the great bike with a frame weight below 800 grams; not betraying his vocation racing is undoubtedly a bike suitable for long distances on roads not in perfect condition. Even if the weight has not declined over the previous Zero.7, is to report a marked increase in the overall rigidity of the frame, especially in the area of the bottom bracket and headset, so you can say that between the frames "superlight" this is undoubtedly the most rigid. The evolution did not stop the rigidity, because now the bike is easier to handle, quick to fit into the corner, but also more precise and stable cornering, easy to control at high speeds, with a frame much more "sincere", precise and safe. Changes made to the geometry, the headset, the bottom bracket and to the shape of the tubes, led to obvious and definite advantages. A bike light and fast uphill, but now is competitive, and even more than before, in plain and hilly, becoming not only a bike very competitive in the most difficult climbs, but also a great bike to 360 degrees, able to be competitive against the best competitors in the flats. The previous model was perhaps easier to drive, more stable; this frame instead, while remaining just as stable and secure, it requires a little more effort in the guide, as the handlebar has to be always well maintained balance in your hands. The stability and driving safety is never less, but needs more attention; in return pays off with higher overall performance. In fact in a direct comparison, the new model is better in everything (anything but obvious), but what matters most is revealed competitive against all possible competitors. Its advantage is the weight/rigidity, is lightweight (but not light), but also very hard; the latter feature allows excellent power transfer, which allows top performance not only climbing but also in the plains. These features allow the bike to be very versatile, competitive uphill, but also in plain; perfect for long runs for amateur, where shows its good ride comfort. Very good development, therefore, and an excellent frame in absolute terms. It has all the characteristics to be a winning product on competitors, with a price proportional to its quality and competitive against the best competitors.
