The new bike Trek Emonda SLR 10 was presented as the lightest bike in the world.

 

 

Really it is, although expensive and not so revolutionary as want to believe. In fact, the next version Emonda 8, with a standard Shimano Dura Ace, weighs more, and all in all is similar to other competitors. However the new frame Trek Emonda, with its 690 grams, is among the more light frames, along with the Cervélo Ca and Cannondale Evo. For the benefit of Trek frame, internal cable (item that becomes more and more indispensable to sell a bike ...), also appealing aesthetic solution, but which leads to an increase in weight and complexity in maintenance.

Emonda frame is made of carbon fiber high modulus, with a tapered headset. The fork has straight and very thin stems; also the down tube has a small size, as well as the rest of the tubes. In the molding of the frame was used a new construction technique that has allowed to reduce the weight of the individual tubes without decreasing the rigidity. The brake bodies are directly mounting on the frame, a solution that reduces the overall weight of the bike and improves braking. Also the support of the front derailleur is integrated to the frame, as well as the chain guide. The bottom bracket has standard BB90. Despite the low weight of the frame, Trek has not renounced the adoption of the detector Duo Trap, with ANT+ technology that sends coded messages to the cycle computer for speed and cadence. Another exclusivity of this Emonda is the new integrated handlebar Bontrager, carbon fiber, lighter than other integrated handlebar and the classical solution stem more handlebar. Even the Bontrager brakes are lighter than similar SRAM Red22, the groupset that has the bike. To complete the assembly, the wheels assembled on Tune hubs and rims, with tubular Vittoria Crono CS. A bike without a doubt well-assembled and valid, but expensive. Of note, then, that the tubular Vittoria Crono CS, have little resistance to punctures, as are delicate rim Tune. A nice bike, but more suitable to be exhibited in salotte that to be pedaling on a normal road. The frame is to be promoted, the assembly serves to impress, as already done by other manufacturers, and with the UCI limit on 6.8Kg, you have to use a lot of lead tu run races with this bike...
