LOOK Cycle today announced the next generation of its KEO BLADE high-performance road pedals. Developed over three years with UCI WorldTour performance specialists and tested by professional athletes from four different teams, the new KEO BLADE range offers cyclists the best power-to-weight ratio in the road pedal category.
Designed and manufactured in France to meet the brand's high quality standards, LOOK has leveraged forty years of pedal design, engineering and manufacturing experience for the new KEO BLADE to maximize rider comfort while optimizing performance performance.
LOOK created the KEO BLADE in 2011, revolutionizing pedal design by integrating a carbon blade in place of traditional metal springs. The initial version of the KEO BLADE Carbon was an instant success, winning numerous awards and becoming the pedal of choice for professional racers around the world.
To create its fastest pedal ever, LOOK redesigned the aerodynamic profile of the pedal. A lower frontal surface and a new aerodynamic profile on the leading edge work together to reduce air resistance, saving 2% compared to the previous design of the KEO BLADE.
With Blade technology already 20% lighter than standard metal spring systems, the new KEO BLADE once again offers a large contact surface at an extremely low weight. Starting at 95g per pedal with a contact area of 705mm (64mm wide), this new platform aims to eliminate hot spots regardless of the shoe's sole material and offers cyclists greater stability while pedaling.
Compared to the previous generation, the new KEO BLADE has a 60% easier rotation when engaging the cleat thanks to an improved weight balance. This allows cyclists to experience an unrivaled clip-in and clip-in feel and feeling of security, allowing for quicker disengagement while offering firm, secure support without unwanted movement when clipped in.
In addition to next-level performance and comfort, the LOOK team focused on improving the durability and reliability of the KEO BLADE pedals. The latest design includes a new pivot to resist water intrusion and long-lasting water-resistant grease, along with a number of durability enhancements such as internal and external sealed bearings, a high quality and a reinforced release lever for 200% greater impact resistance. Riders can also choose to replace their blades in less than a minute for their desired tension (available in different tensions from eight to twenty) or replace them to maximize the life of the pedals.
